Delray Beach Wedding DJ

Intimate gardens, restaurant buyouts and beachside celebrations, sized just right.

Delray Beach has a personality all its own. Atlantic Avenue runs from the Intracoastal to the ocean, lined with restaurants, galleries and string lights, and the town's "village by the sea" character attracts couples who want something more relaxed and intimate than a 300-guest ballroom. We've been DJing South Florida weddings since 1997, and Delray's smaller, more personal celebrations are some of our favorites.

Intimate weddings need a different DJ approach

Many Delray weddings are smaller, often somewhere between 40 and 120 guests, in gardens, courtyards, restaurant private rooms or full buyouts, boutique hotels and beachside venues. A smaller room changes the job:

  • Volume matters more. In a big ballroom, a speaker on full tilt is diluted by space. In a courtyard or restaurant, the same level is overwhelming. We size our system to the room and control levels carefully, especially during dinner.
  • A smaller footprint. Restaurants and gardens don't always have space for a big DJ setup. We plan a compact, tidy setup that fits the space and doesn't block sightlines or service.
  • The DJ is more visible. In an intimate setting, everyone notices the DJ. A professional, low-key presence matters.
  • The crowd is closer. With fewer guests, every song choice counts. One empty song is very noticeable. We read the room constantly.

Garden and courtyard weddings

Delray's gardens and courtyards, with tropical plants, fountains, pergolas and string lights, are perfect for ceremonies and receptions in the cooler months. Outdoor events need:

  1. A weather plan. Summer afternoons bring quick, heavy storms. A tent or indoor backup is essential from roughly June to October.
  2. Power planning. Garden venues may have limited outlets. We'll confirm power needs with your venue.
  3. Sound that stays in the garden. Neighbors and nearby businesses are close in downtown Delray. Speaker placement and volume keep the party where it belongs.
  4. Heat and bugs for guests. Not our department, but we'll remind you to ask your venue or planner about fans, shade and bug spray.

Restaurant buyouts

Restaurant weddings are growing in popularity in Delray, and for good reason: amazing food, built-in atmosphere and a walkable location for guests. To make a restaurant wedding work musically:

  • Agree with the restaurant where the dance floor will go (often tables are moved after dinner).
  • Confirm the restaurant's sound rules and end time.
  • Keep dinner music at conversation level, then build to dancing.
  • Plan the transition: when tables move, the energy needs to rise quickly.

We're comfortable in tight spaces and work well with restaurant staff. And because we're insured, we can provide a certificate of insurance (COI) if the restaurant or landlord requires one.

Beachside celebrations

Delray's public beach is one of the most popular in the area, and some couples hold a small ceremony on the sand before moving to a nearby venue for the reception. For beach ceremonies, check the city's current rules on permits and amplified sound, and read our beach wedding sound tips.

After-parties on the Avenue

One Delray perk: guests can walk to bars and restaurants on Atlantic Avenue after the reception. Some couples plan an informal after-party. If your venue's end time is early, think about how you want the night to wrap. A great last song and a send-off with sparklers or bubbles gives the evening a clear finale before the after-party. Our wedding MC page explains how we handle the send-off.

Lighting for small spaces

In small rooms, a little lighting goes a long way. A few uplights on a garden wall, a courtyard tree or a restaurant's back wall can transform the space. Our uplighting color guide suggests palettes that work well in intimate settings.

Pricing

Our posted rates are the same everywhere we serve: $800 Sunday, $1,000 Friday, $1,200 Saturday, flat-rate with unlimited time. Uplighting is $300 with a DJ package. See our DJ cost guide for more.

Nearby

We also serve Boca Raton to the south and West Palm Beach to the north.

Planning for a smaller guest count

Delray Beach weddings are often smaller and more relaxed, and a small wedding can have a great dance floor if the room and the music are planned for it.

A few tips that help with smaller groups:

  • Keep the dance floor close. A small dance floor near the tables fills up faster and feels more energetic than a big one far away.
  • Know your guests' favorites. With fewer people, each guest's taste matters more. Tell us about the dancers in your group and what they love.
  • Use fewer, bigger moments. A couple of high-energy songs at the right time can do more for a small crowd than a long dance set that starts too early.
  • Volume to match the space. Small rooms and courtyards don't need to be loud. Keeping it comfortable lets older guests stay close to the action.
  • Think about a photo booth. For smaller groups, a photo booth becomes a shared activity rather than a side attraction.

Intimate weddings also tend to be more personal, so toasts often run longer and get more emotional. We plan for that in the timeline so the night doesn't feel rushed.

★★★★★
“Brandon was incredible for our wedding 6/17/17. From the bridal entrance (the groom and I were late coming back from pictures) to his own built playlist, he was fantastic. We put in 3 requests and he ran the rest. The dance floor was packed the entire night. I would recommend Brandon to everyone I know! Thanks again Brandon!”

“Brandon was an awesome DJ! He was truly a professional, had great advice, was easy to work with, and kept everyone on the dance floor. He really took our selections to heart, and got our style and taste from the guidance we gave, but improved it for our guests to get the right flow and energy. He was super- would highly recommend.”

“Brandon was the dj at my sister's wedding. By far one of the best weddings I've been to, and I know a lot of that was because of him. Would definitely call him again.”
